About Ian Miller

Ian Miller is a professional music director, pianist, and arranger based in New York City. Currently an accompanist and assistant professor of voice in the Juilliard Dance Division, he is a versatile musician, drawing upon his classical piano training and an extensive background in musical theater, as well as a love of gospel, jazz and R&B.

Ian made his Broadway debut playing keyboard in the orchestra for Into the Woods, and is a rehearsal pianist for the productions of Wicked and The Music Man. Previously, Ian was the music director for Ma-Yi Theater Company’s off-Broadway run of Felix Starro, and a rehearsal pianist for the Broadway revival of West Side Story. Ian has worked with a number of organizations, including: the Yale School of Drama, the Story Pirates, the Young People’s Chorus of NYC, Vocal Ease, Joyful Voices NY, and the Nightingale-Bamford School. He is the music director of “Our Broadway,” a musical theater program for adults with intellectual disabilities around NYC.

He is particularly passionate about collaborating with singers and vocal ensembles to bring out their best performance. Ian holds a BA in Music from Yale University, where he sang with the Shades of Yale and the Whiffenpoofs.

Ian has been the music director for several iterations of Paulo Tirol’s song cycle On This Side of The World, capturing voices from the Filipino immigrant experience in the United States.

AHRC’s “Our Broadway”

Ian is the music director for AHRC’s “Our Broadway,” a musical theater program for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Pamela’s First Musical

Ian played in the pit for Two River Theater’s world premiere of Pamela’s First Musical (music by Cy Coleman), starring Carolee Carmello, Howard McGillin, and Andréa Burns.
